On November 26, 2025, UrbanTec Property Management hosted its first live webinar dedicated to helping condominium board members prepare for the upcoming financial year. The response from Calgary’s condo community exceeded our expectations, with board members from across the city joining to strengthen their financial knowledge.
Tim Erickson, President of UrbanTec, led the session and covered essential topics that every condo board needs to understand as they plan for 2026. The webinar walked through best practices for annual budget planning, key considerations for reserve fund management, and strategic financial oversight for condominium corporations.
What made this session particularly valuable was Tim’s approach to sharing real examples from properties we actually manage. He discussed the importance of maintaining a proper contingency account and illustrated why this matters by walking through actual situations our team has handled. These weren’t hypothetical scenarios but real cases from Calgary condominium communities, giving attendees a clear picture of what can happen when boards are prepared versus when they’re caught off guard.
Tim brought his 30 years of hands-on experience in Calgary’s condominium industry to every example, helping board members understand not just the theory behind sound financial planning, but how it plays out in practice. Whether dealing with unexpected repairs, seasonal challenges, or planning for long-term reserve fund needs, the session provided actionable guidance that boards can apply right away.
We were grateful for the level of engagement during the live session and have been touched by the positive feedback from attendees. Many board members shared that the real-world examples really helped them understand how to approach their own budgeting decisions.
For those who couldn’t attend the live session or want to revisit the material, the full recording is now available on our YouTube channel. We’re already planning future webinars and welcome suggestions from the community on topics you’d like us to cover.
At UrbanTec, we believe that educated boards make better decisions, and we’re committed to providing the resources and support Calgary’s condominium communities need to thrive.
